The Sonitpur District Para Sports Association founded on 17 January 2023 at Edupur Foundation Office, Tribeni Complex, Tezpur by the Officials of Paralympic Association of Assam.

Para Sports Promotion 2023

A Felicitation to Para Athletes of Sonitpur along with Para Sports Promotion and Awareness Programme was held at OM Santi Bhawan, Bramha Kumari, Ketekibari, Tezpur on Saturday.  The program was organised by Sonitpur District Para Sports Association in collaboration with Paralympic Association of Assam. The program started with the meditation session by Brahma Kumari Kamala and motivational session by Debahuti Goswami. Amit Raj Konwar, President of Sonitpur District Para Sports Association briefed the Aim and Objectives of the Para Sports through state official website www.paralympicassam.org and urged all members, volunteers & PwD (Person with Disabilities) to give wide publicity on Para Sports and help them to contact Office of the District Para Sports Association at Edupur Foundation, Tribeni Complex, Tezpur for joining and training process. The Secretary, Bonosmita Baruah & Joint Secretary, Geet Gunjan Deka explained the selection process of Para Athletes in Sonitpur District. The Chief guest of the program Capt. Lohit Chandra Bhuyan, President, Edupur Foundation and Dip Kumar Kalita, Senior Journalist and Media Advisor of Edupur Foundation felicitated Para Athlete Hanif Ali, who secured Gold Medal in Boccia State Championship 2023. Around 60 PwD (Person with Disabilities) participated in this event and one to one discussion with the officials.
